Travelling Here and There: Poems
Prahlad Singh Shekhawat, the author of these poems is not a poet per se but has strayed into writing poems as he wanted to balance his rational and logical part of the brain with more of his emotional and intuitional aspects in order to experience life more fully and in a holistic manner to be a whole human being rather than just being a stale intellectual of sorts.
Prahlad is Director of a non-profit NGO ‘Alternative Development and Research Centre’, Jaipur to help poor slum children with education and health care and poor women’s skill development. Recently he has been appointed as a Research Associate with the International Personal Meaning Network in Toronto Canada without having to live there full time.
Prahlad has a certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford where her optional subject included poetry. He was a speaker at the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2014 where he recited his poem in the Rajasthani language at a session as a homage to Vijaydan Detha; a Rajasthani writer who was tipped to receive the Nobel Prize for literature.
He has published two books of poetry, one called Being and Becoming, from the Writers Workshop in Kolkata. These poems were chosen by Professor P. Lal, the doyen of English literature in India. The second book Poems from Daharamshala, has been published by Partridge of Penguin India. A few of his poems have also been included in An Anthology of Indian Poetry in English edited by Professor Jha and published by Silent Brooks in Canada. He has also published a book entitled Literature and Freedom by Independent Media Foundation India. The book is about Jaipur and other literature festivals and events and contains a few poems by him as well.
His Urdu poetry collection with Roman script entitled Safar is also being published by Authorspress in 2018.
