Mr. Wangchuk holsa a B. Ed degree with a major in teaching geography and social studies from Samtse College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan. He held the position of teacher and school principal for more than sixteen years.

Currently, Mr. Wangchuk is employed as the Programme Manager at the YDF administered Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug and Alcohol Dependence in Serbithang.

In addition to education, the author has a keen interest in the flora of Bhutan, coordionating several envirnment related programs that have benefitted a large section of the Bhutanese population. He also served as a Militia Volunteer during the Bhutanese Army Operstion against the foreign militants in 2003.

As an avid nature enthusiast, Mr. Wangchuk devotes his time to studying and exploring the natural world. Bodybuiding, bicycling, trekking, birds watching and photography are also among his interests.

Recently, he has authored and co-authored two books. 'A pictorial guide to the wild flowers of Bhutan' and 'Prism of Youth'.

This third book titled 'Medicinal Plants of Alpine Bhutan' explains the value and medicinal use of the plants found in th highlands of Bhutan.
