Synopsis The strength of a nation depends to a large extent on the human factor. Thus human resource development is the key to the overall well-being of any country. Man is the true impeller and spiringboard for rapid economic growth and improved standards of living, though there may be other contributory factors too. Common goals and greater co-operation among peoples of nations as a group only adds to faster development and growth, a truism reflected by the ‘emerging Asian tigers’ of ASEAN. India, which is also a developing economy, has been keen to establish closer links with ASEAN to further promote economic, social and cultural ties. Similarly, ASEAN can derive advantage from an enduring and enhanced partnership with India with its sizable pool of well educated, highly qualified and trained and experienced technocrats, engineers, scientists, doctors, economists, and others. To precisely play a contributory role on our part and to foster a bigger involvement among the potential players in this mutual human interaction, we decided on the ‘Indo-Asean Who’s Who’. The ‘Indo-Asean Who’s Who’ contains short biographical profiles of about 2250 men and women engaged in various professions, services and occupations.
