Anaesthesia has advanced several folds in recent times and our goal for writing the “Textbook of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia” is to provide a convenient, concise, easy and upto date information relevant to veterinary anaesthetists and surgeons. The book introduces the undamental concepts of anaesthesia alongwith information on preanaesthetic preparation for different species and commonly used drugs in animals such as premedicants, all types of anaesthetics are described alongwith their doses and antidotes. Chapter on management of anaesthesia for zoo and wild animals is also included. In recent years, the ever increasing emphasis on the treatment of animal pain has placed veterinary anaesthesiology and pain management in a central role in the delivery of humane veterinary care. Accordingly a separate chapter on pain and its management has been included in this book.
