Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development, North East Unit, Itanagar on the theme, “Human Capital Resources, Environment and Infrastructural Development in North-East States of India in the Era of Globalisation” dated October 22-23, 2016. There are differences among the North East India with respect to their natural resource endowments, levels of industrialization and infrastructural facilities. On the whole, all the economies of the region are underdeveloped agrarian societies with very week industrial sectors and inflated services sectors. The absence of a well articulated policy framework led the region to remain underdeveloped. The region, despite its vast resources, is lacking behind in all spheres of economic development from the national averages. In this region, Globalization is being challenged to evolve into a new conception of the good life, congenial to the visions of education for all, health for all, food for all, justice and human rights for all with protections of life and cultures of peoples.
