Our future depends on our ability to live in accordance to the carrying capacity and limits of our planet. For this there is a need to change behaviour and practices of the people of every country, every state, and every city. Environment protection has gained rapid momentum during the last few decades. It is the only option left to save our mother earth. Environment education at this juncture is necessary to increase people’s knowledge and create awareness among them about the threats of life that the environment problems pose on the habitat and specifically the human population. Proper understanding of environment problems develop the necessary skills and expertise to address the challenges and foster attitudes, motivations and commitments to make informed choices and decisions that lead to responsible action in protecting the environment. The need of the hour is to educate the public ad make them aware of their rights as citizens of this country to have a clean environment and their surroundings which can be transferred to the future generation. Environmental education and awareness cannot exist one without the other. Let the education and awareness spread throughout the world, since this is our only chance to safeguard the future. The purpose of this book is to share knowledge and ideas about the theoretical concept and researches conducted in India and abroad related to environment protection and awareness. The book consists of seventeen contributions prepared by twenty six authors. The chapters suggests solutions, for the reconstruction of the degraded environment, addresses several questions related to the use and acceptance of the newly developed technology related to environment protection, shed light on some health related issues related to persistent environmental conditions, deals with some environment friendly techniques and provides closer look on the selected methods to impart environmental education among masses.
