This book is the result of a thorough study of Persian history,language, literature and culture. This book has ten chapters. The chapter first and secod saw native Iranian rule in the form of the Pishdadian and Kayaian Dybasties. The chapter third deals with the history and culture of Achaemenids. It was the largest empire of ancient history. The chapter fourth deals with the history and culture of Sasanian dynasty, which was the last great Iranian Dynasty before the rise of Islam.
The chapter fifth, sicth and seventh deal with the history and culture of Rashidun Caliphate, Umayyad Caliphate and Abbasid Caliphate. The advent of Islam in the 7th century AD made a decisive change in the course of Iran's history and culture.The chapter eighthdeals with the history and culture of Samanid Dynasties, which was the first native Iranian dynasty that rose to power in Iran after the conquest of Arabs.
The chapter ninth deals with the history and culture of Saffarid Dynasty, which was a Muslim Persianate dynasty of lower class origins from Sistan. The last chapter deals with the origin and development of Persian language and literature. Thus, this work endeavours to convery to the readers a consecutive idea of the history, literature and culture of ancient and medieval Iran.
