New Rural Higher Education: Need of The Hour to Transform Rural India
The main stream education was introduced and expanded by the western system of education and prepared the youth for industries and government as a workers and employees respectively. But India needed more workforce as transformational leaders to transform rural India. Though the rural higher education was initiated only at a limited scale that the rural higher education based on Nai Thalim, it has not well nourished and taken forward by the policy and financial support of the government. As a result sufficient transformational leaders could not be produced to cater to the needs of the rural development job market to transform the rural areas. This monograph succinctly brings to light the problems faced by the rural institutions while offering rural higher education in India. It analyses the whole story of the functioning of the rural institutes in India. While indicating the problems faced by the Institutions the monograph indicates the need of the contextualised rural higher education system. At present globalisation of economy has totally disturbed the village system and community practices and as a result the life, livelihood and dignity of the rural communities are at stake. It is all the more important to have a new rural higher education system for India. In this monograph the importance of rural education is being highlighted and a blueprint for a new rural higher education system has been indicated.
