Elementary Statistical Methods
The present book, Elementary Statistical Methods, deals with the undergraduate level syllabus of B.A.(Hon.) Geography. There are seven chapters in the book. The first chapter introduces statistical methods, the source of data, different scales of measurement and the significance of statistical methods. The second chapter is about the classification of data with the help of frequency distribution table and graphical presentation. Summarization of data with the help of measurement of central tendency and partition values is taken up in the third chapter. Variation is most important characteristics of data, so the fourth chapter is devoted to measures of variability. The fifth chapter is about the spatial measures of central tendency. Normal distribution and uses of an area under the normal curve are discussed in the sixth chapter. The last chapter is devoted to an introduction to correlation and regression analysis.
