Resource Evaluation and Management
Development of an region/district depends on many factors like availability to various resources, physical characteristics, socio-economic conditions and scientific developmental planning. These components are not equally distributed in nature hence some of the areas are well endowed and some are in deficit. The first step towards developmental planning of the district is preparing a basic resource inventory to locate the areas of different developmental potentials so that these could be developed by priority.
Natural resources available in the area like geology, minerals, soils, water, forests, agriculture, infrastructure, livestock etc. are important as it provide the necessary inputs for the development. For the development, of the resources available their distribution in the area and their inter relationship is essential. History bears the testimony to the fact that ancient civilization were established in the locations where resources are in abundance. These locations were mainly near the rivers where water, good alluvial soil, vegetation etc. were available for production of food, fuel, drinking water etc. to support the life. All the resource have to be seen in the holistic, view so that integrated approach for the holistic development of entire resource base can be evolved.
