Complete Digest of Supreme Court Cases: Vol. 50
Volume 50: covers HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS (contd.) [Rights of Displaced Persons/Migrants and Refugees/Displacement due to Land Acquisitions/Dams/Irrigation Projects (contd.) to End] TO INDUSTRY, TRADE, DEVELOPMENT AND BUSINESS LAWS [General Principles to Essential Commodities and Services — Judicial review (contd.)] This topic of Industry, Trade, Development and Business Laws has been put together by compiling a number of important sub-topics such as Foreign Trade and Investment, Industrial Development/Industrialisation and Essential Commodities and Services, amongst others. The attempt is to put together an umbrella subject that re ects the ongoing modernisation and liberalisation of the Indian Economy, which subject would be of particular utility to the practitioner of Commercial and Business Law. Though a great deal of the economy has been liberalised and delicensed, there are still goods which are governed by the Essential Commodities regime. Hence, this umbrella subject is necessarily a mix of the new and the old, as the laws evolve and change with the opening up of the economy. It is hoped that the arrangement of the case law in this manner, under this novel umbrella subject will be of even greater utility to Commercial and Business Lawyers when read with the soon to be published subject of Infrastructure Laws (in Vols. 51-53), which too is an umbrella subject put together with the same aims and objects. When read together, it is hoped that the rulings compiled under Industry, Trade, Development and Business Laws and Infrastructure Laws will go very far indeed to meet the needs of the Commercial and Business Lawyer, as also the General Practitioner The present digest covers the law laid down by the Supreme Court from its inception in 1950 to date. It has been conceived and planned to enable the discovery of all the rulings on a point of law, easily and quickly. It is based on the time-tested SCC index system which is now widely accepted and used.
