Synopsis Library and information science profession has recognized the importance of the application of information technology as well as the need for developing new methods and techniques for the management of information in a technological environment. It is in this context a seminar on ‘Information access, management and exchange in the technological age’ was held at University of Calicut. This book, the outcome of the papers presented in this seminar, contains thirty one papers presented by forty five authors who are practicing librarians, library and information science teachers and research scholars. This book covers the following facets: electronic publishing, intellectual property rights in the digital era, social implications of wireless technology, equitable access for the disadvantaged and the disabled, information security and privacy, misuses of information communication technology, implication of information and communication, technology on distance education, exchange of electronic bibliographic data, cross cultural networking partnerships, research in global environment and preservation of the past for the future. It is hoped that this book will reduce the gap between theory and practice in library field.
