Synopsis This book presents the current status of applied cognitive psychology, explores problems that require prompt solution and suggests where the current synthesis is taking place in the present scenario. Measured in academic terms, an attempt was made to present the field with emphasis on attention, memory, concept, pattern recognition, language processing, problem solving, reasoning, among many others. The readers will also find new speculations and theoretical ideas. The authors of various chapters are a formidable group of scholars from various Indian Universities and institutions. The volume also includes selected proceedings from the conference on cognitive psychology, held in the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi in the year 1992, organized by the then Head of the Department, Prof. Anima Sen. The approach taken in the chapters of this book is novel. Current theories and methodologies in Cognitive psychology have been utilized to study interesting aspects of human behaviour. The volume also draws upon the cognitive theoretical models and integrates them with remedial cognitive and psychotherapeutic practice.
