This book entitled Elementary Botany has been written for the students of B.Sc. according to the course contents of the ICAR 5th Deans committee report and is intended for theory as well as practicals. This Textbook will meet the need for undergraduate students of agriculture, biotechnology and B.Tech. (Food Technology). Elementary Botany has been divided into five sections i.e., Plant kingdom, Morphology, Taxonomy, Cytology and Anatomy, each containing introductory and brief details but clearly presents the status of knowledge of the subject for study. The students will be able to acquire a practical basis gradually for the critical evaluation of the theory through the use of this textbook. This document will also prove useful to the students to understand plant types, forms and identification of crop varieties. Clear and copious, neat illustrations have been provided where ever necessary in the text.
