In the early 1960s, ten-year-old Anupama finds herself staring at the rain outside on her first flight, bound for the UK. With that first trip, Anupama embarks on a journey that will see her heart soar in love, only to come crashing down over and over again. She will see loss - of a beloved but neglected father, of a great love, of her dignity, of her career. Through it all, numbers and equations, her constant friends, will see her through this tumult and the various things she will be at various times. Broken but brave, she builds another life for herself back in India, but when a young journalist causes a ripple in her predictable days, Anupama finds herself back on a flight to the UK after forty years, staring at the rain again.
