Pilgrimage Tourism
Tourism is one of the largest service industries in India. Pilgrimage Tourism to Shrine is an important component of the tourism industry. Pilgrimage tourism motivates tourists for the achievement of religious attitude and practices. It is estimated that every year around, seven million pilgrims visit the Shrine, which is influencing the socio-economic environment of the region. It has contributed effectively to the growth and development of the place. Considering the significance of pilgrimage tourism, both the Central and State Governments have been implementing several schemes and programmes for the development of Pilgrim centres in the country with the ultimate aim of satisfying the requirements of the pilgrims. The present book tries to investigate the Pilgrimage Tourism in India with particular reference to Sabarimala Temple in the State of Kerala.
