Universal Love and World Unity
I have written and published a great deal of research books and papers. But my heart has always been in two other lines of my work, one creative writing in Sanskrit-poems, plays, etc., and another, writings relating to our religious and spiritual heritage and Indian Thought and Culture. This second mentioned may be said to have begun with my "Prayers, Praises and Psalms" (1938, 1948, 1955, 2008), one of my earliest books, to which Mahatma Gandhi was pleased to write a short Foreword; ‘The Indian Heritage’ (1956 - 1999; 5 editions) sponsored by the Unesco; ‘The Great Integrators - Saint - Singers of India’, the Patel Lectures under the I & B Ministry for 1964, (1966, 1969, 2017). It is to this line that the present publication ‘Universal Love and World Unity’ belongs. The writing of these lectures and more so, the extensive ranging over the writings bearing on this theme from the ancient to modern times, the scriptures and writings of sages, saints and thinkers in the different parts of the world and their cultural traditions, had given me a unique satisfaction. These lectures on "Universal Love and World Unity" were delivered by me some years back, under the auspices of the Bharatia Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore. I have been associated with Kulapati K.M. Munshi from the time of the restoration of Somanath and the founding of the Sanskrit Vishva Parishad of which I was one of the founder- Secretaries. I hope this work of mine under the auspices of the Bhavan will gladden his Spirit.
