History of Bangladesh, 1704-1971 (In 3 Vols.)
Synopsis
This three-volume collective study presents a comprehensive narrative and critical analysis of the political, economic, social and cultural developments from the early eighteenth century to the emergence of Bangladesh as a nation state. Each volume, with fascinating details and wealth of information, contains a wide range of topics which manifest a new approach to the history of Bangladesh. An attempt has been made here to identify the crucial events and issues and explore their implications in relation to Bengal state formation and nationhood. Individual chapters have been written by local and foreign scholars reputed for their insight, depth and objectivity. The three volumes arranged thematically into political, economic and socio-cultural, bear testimony to the depth of research and analysis and open up potentialities for further research. Each volume, complete in itself, gives an intimate glimpse into the changes in the structures of politics, economy and society which paved the way to the creation of Pakistan first and then, of Bangladesh as a nation state. Originally done in English, this book has also been rendered into Bangla.
