Vedic Studies- Volue System in the Vedas (Volume 5)
We express our happiness on the publication of Vedic Studies (Journal of the School of Vedic Studies), Vol. V, 2010. This volume contains the papers presented at the two-day National Seminar on "Value System in the Veda and Upanisads"’, held on February 27 and 28, 2008 under the auspices of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratisthan, Ujjain with the assistance from the University Grants Commission. The object of the seminar was to explore and emphasize those values which foster universal peace and unity as well as harmony and integrity of the nations on the broad basis of the codes of conduct often laid down by the Sastras, especially the Vedas. For a comprehensive idea about the proceedings of the seminar Iearned readers may go through the article "Value System in the Veda and Upanisads: An Overview". Since some papers supposed to be sent by the respective speakers after revision have not been received, we are unfortunately unable to include them in this volume. Difficulty has also been felt to follow uniform principles of editing due to differences in style, diction, and method of writing of the authors. Hence there has been an effort to retain individual style as well as methodology to some extent. Bibliographical details and references may be found incomplete in some cases. Despite our best efforts a few printing mistakes might have crept in, for which I sincerely regret. I express my gratitude and thankfulness to Prof. Samiran chandra Chakrabarti, Dr. Bhaskarnath Bhattacharyya and Dr. Soma Basu for their valuable assistance rendered during different stages of publication. I am also thankful to the project assistants of the School for their services of reading the proof- sheets. Sincere thanks are also due to M/S Service Princers for their help and care in the matter of printing. Lastly, I thankfully acknowledge the kind assistance and patronage of the authorities of the concerned institutions regarding organization of the said seminar and publication of this volume.
