The book ‘Handbook Of Exotic Pet Medicine’ is a unique in the sense that it provides not only basic information about different exotic pet species but also about their husbandry practices and most common diseases along with diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Commonly used drugs with their doses have also been given at the end of the chapter to provide a view at a glance. The book is divided in to four chapters. Chapter 1 is assigned to Reptiles such as chelonians (turtles, tortoises) and snakes. In India chelonians are becoming major exotic pet in city dwellings demanding for better health care facilities. Chapter 2 is devoted to Laporines (rabbit), fur bearing beautiful species kept as pet, whose number is also increasing as out patients in the veterinary clinics. Chapter 3 deals with husbandry and health care of pet avian such as parrots, love birds and pigeons. Chapter 4 provides important information on basic aspects, husbandry and common diseases of pocket pets (pet rodents), another fancy pet entered into our bed rooms. The book is intended not only to provide information on basic aspects, their keeping, nutrition, basic physiological indices, common diseases but also deals with health care approach and zoonotic aspect in a simplest way. It is earnestly hoped that this book will serve its purpose of providing much needed clinical information to veterinary graduates, clinicians, researchers and teachers engaged in the treatment of diseases of exotic pets and their up keeping.
