A Theology of Migration in Acts of Mercy
'People on the move' or 'people crossing the boundary' is not a new reality but it is an age-old phenomenon in human history. But in today's context migration is seen not merely as a chance for a better life but also as a problem because of the issues related to migration faced by natives as well as migrants. The Catholic Church always responded to the social needs of the people. Apostolic Constitution, Exsul Familia by Pope Pius XII, which is also known as the Magna Carta on migration was one such response from the part of the Church in the context of the World Wars. Pope Francis shows a gesture of closeness with the migrants and refugees in his words and actions. A migration theology which shares the 'flesh and blood stories' of migrants can give a new direction to the world in handling the present migration issues.
