Majnu Ka Tilla Diaries
Majnu ka Tilla, I knew I had finally found the photographic language to tell an authentic story of the Tibetan refugees in exile. The photographs to intimately express the lives of the persons. I had come to know with Norsang. I began to discloser the community through daily visits, which were filled at first with just conversations. After getting to know them in this way. I arranged photo shoots. To tell their stories, I photographed the interiors of their homes and their everyday environment. Tibetan diaries to record their words, in their own handwriting and language. Sometimes, the individual I photographed wrote in the Tibetan script and on the same page, Norsang translated the words into English. At other times, a person who could not write would speak in Tibetan and Norsang would translate their words and write them down in the diary. Onced in a while, a son or daughter or friend acted as translator and scribe for a parent who was illiterate.
