Church and Cultural Identity
This book titled "Church and Cultural Identity: Challenges of Mission among the Uraons" provides a broad overview of Uraons' social, cultural, economic and religious issues and in particular, their cultural identity in relation to the church. It is only through historical investigation that one can really understand how a particular group of people has coped with the given circumstances and how the Christian missionary activities have played their role. One of the major problems that the Uraons of Chhotanagpur face today is the increasing gap between Uraon Christians and Uraons adherent to other faiths. Both these groups face difficulties in living together as single Adivasi community. Hence, the goal of the author is to find out how Uraons can keep their Adivasi identity as well as remain authentic Christians.
