Synopsis

This Proceedings volume entitled - "History and Archaeology: Recent Perspectives" was the product of the First annual session of nascent West Odisha History Congress, which was organized by the Department of History of Govt. Women's College, Bhawanipatna. Edited fourteen papers on diverse topics of Odishan History and Archaeology of our time which were presented in various sections of the annual session of West Odisha History Congress and they were well discussed. These themes are original and the methodology of history and archaeology of our time has been strictly followed in these research articles. Thus, we hope that the Proceedings Volume would cater to the academic need of researchers in the field of History and Archaeology of our time.

About the author

Baba Mishra

Dr. Baba Mishea (b. 1957) obtained Ph.D. from Sambalpur University and currently he is Associate Professor & Head, in the P.G. Dept. of History, Govt. College [Autonomous] Bhawanipatna, Dist-Kalahandi. Odisha. He is the author of Medieval Orissa and Cult of Jagannatha [1995] Early Orissa: Urbanization in Tel Valley [2011] and Early Historical Tel Valley, Orissa [from the 6th century BV to 6th century AD] [2013] He has edited along with P.K. Dandasena-Settlement and Urbanization in ancient Orissa [2009] and compiled the volume-Facents of Orissa History, Culture and Archaeology [2010], History and Culture of Odisha : A New Look (In Felicitation of Dr. P.K. Dandasena, 2015) is another notable edited book of Dr. Mishra. His, more than hundred of research papers on history, culture, archaeology, art, architecture, numismatics and epigraph and epigraph have been published in the leading Journals of India and foreign countries. He has presented his research findings in three dozens of State, Nattional nd International seminars, Annual session and Confrernces etc, and has completed research projects of U.G.C. [Major] and I.C.H.R., New Delhi. He explored many archaeological sites of South western Odisha, participated in Kharigarh excavation 2002 and Salvage operation conducted at Chandrasagarnala, 2006. He directed Budhigh excavation during 2014-2016. Also, Dr. Mishra has been seccessfuly guiding M.Phill & Ph.D. research.
