Coins of the Mughal Emperors of India
This book provides a catalogue of the coins issued by the Mughal emperors, starting from Babur (r. 1526-1530) to the reign of the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar (r. 1837-1857). It is the third volume in the series, Catalogue of the Coins in the Indian Museum, Calcutta. The book contains a genealogy of the Mughal emperors and a brief description of their rule. However, the major part of the book features plates of coins issued by the respective Mughal emperors, along with other containing descriptions of the coins written in Persian, and relevant details associated with each Mughal coin discovered by archaeologists. Overall, this work is valuable for studying Mughal numismatics for both scholars and enthusiasts alike. About the Author Henry Nelson Wright (1869-1941) was a British numismatist and civil servant. He held numerous official positions under the British government in the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), and the United Provinces before his retirement in 1915. He was also a member of the Asiatic Society in Bengal. His publications include Catalogue of the Coins in the Indian Museum, Calcutta: Including the Cabinet of the Asiatic Society of Bengal and Catalogue of the Coins in the Indian Museum, Calcutta, Volume II, Part I: The Sultans of Delhi; Part II: Contemporary Dynasties in India, among others.
