The book presents an overall scenario of the plant diversity of Bhagalpur district (Bihar). The book has been written for those, who are eager to know about the wild and cultivated plants and also to generate specific knowledge about local plant species. About 120 important plant species are described in details with photographs, which will be helpful to the general people for identification. The book also highlights the plants having medicinal value. Valuable status has been indicated from the conservation point of view. This will generate wide interest in preserving and protecting threatened plant species. After photographic part, it has an exhaustive table incorporating scientific names, common names, families and status. Besides common people, the book will be also useful for taxonomists, horticulturists, scientists, researchers, plant lovers, nurserymen, etc. This book features altogether 207 species of trees under 141 genera and 59 families, 330 species of shrubs under 192 genera and 66 families. Also, there are 133 species of climbers under 87 genera and 33 families and 463 species of herbs under 313 genera belonging to 90 families. In addition, list of road side plants with their indigenous and exotic status are also given.
