Vijay Kumar Manandhar (b.1952) received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in History from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. In addition to that, he holds on M.A. degree in History from the University of Wisconsin, Medison. He received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the United States. Dr. Manandhar started his academic career in 1977 as an Assistant Lecturer in the present post-graduate level Central Department of History, Tribhuvan University and is now Professor in the same department. He is the recipient of the Mahendra Vidya Bhusan medal. He is also the author of cultural and political aspect of Nepal-China Relations and A Documentary History of Nepalese Quinquennial Mission to China 1792-1906. Dr. Manandhar has also contributed about two dozen articles to Research Journals of Nepalese Studies and Ancient Nepal. He has also held the position of the executive editor of the Central Department of History, Tribhuvan University.

Dr. Shanker Thapa (born 1957), M.A. in Modern History, B.L. and Post-graduate Diploma in Buddhism from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Ph.D. from Patna University. At present he is Associate Professor in the Departament of History, Tribhuvan University. Recipient of Senior Research Fellowship, Academy of Korean Studies (1997 and 1997); Long Term Research Fellow ICSK Seoul (1989); Korea Foundation Research Fellowship (1998). Faculty Development Fellowship, Tribhuvan University and Research Fellowship of Sumitomo Foundation (1999). His research articles were published in Nepal, India, Taiwan, Korea and the Netherlands. He has written books on Buddhism, Agricultural History and Peasant Studies. Executive Editor: Voice of History’ a research Journal of Department of History, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
