Synopsis
The papers in the Volume have diversified issues encountered with growth, globalization and poverty. There are three dimensions in the papers presented in the Volume. Some papers deals with theoretical relevance of globalization to the selected macro economic variables and sectors in the Indian economy. Growth to some extent reduces the poverty, but if the growth, led by globalization results to increase in poverty, then the matter becomes more serious for the developing countries. Most of the papers in the Volume reiterate this fact. The state studies and the regional studies also explore the realities of the globalization. Some papers deals with poverty alleviation programmes; which have direct impact on reducing the poverty. The role of NGOs in ameliorating the poverty is significant. The SHGs are playing the vital role in reducing the poverty. Micro credit to micro enterprises is helping to eradicate poverty permanently.
