The study of demographic data has become important in the context of national planning. An endeavour has been made to present the statistics of this region and compare them with the statistics of other neighbouring states and the country as a whole. It is hoped that the statistics presented in this volume will be of great use to the research scholars, demographers, geo-graphers, anthropologists, economist, research institutions, administrators, policy planners, and other interested persons who are likely to be stimulated to make further in-depth studies of the subject.
