Social System
Synopsis
Parsons looked at human nature and interactions in such structured and systematic elements that the future changes in them can be estimated earlier. He believes that apparently unsystematic nature and human society have an inherent system. We should therefore analyse social facts and events in the form of different systems. Parsons sees 'Social action' as a system. According to him human action and interactions are systematized in definite pattern. Its different parts or elements are not scattered apart but are organized in set patterns and as such cannot be separated from each other. Any action of an individual can also be understood in his total action system. What does he mean by a system? Both Parsons and general system theorists consider "a system as a set of interrelated units engaged in some type of action." It is obvious that the functional interdependence of the units keeps them integrated into a system. The present book tries to present the theory of social system in a very lucid style.
