Synopsis
India presents a significant pattern of cultural and ethnic diversity. Indian people differ in their socio-cultural levels as well as in their behavioural perspectives. Indian Society has been exposed to various socio-economic changes and legal initiatives over the last five and half decades. The Constitutional provisions of democratic governance and the policy of positive discrimination have affected the social fabric and economic structure of Indian society. It also presents critical review of recommendations of various commissions and committees set up by state governments while special emphasis has been laid on analyzing the status of OBC’s in India and particularly in Uttar Pradesh.
