A great majority of them have not been benefited by the protective legislation in the critical areas of wages, maternity benefits, childcare and social security. The book will serve as a reference guide for the researchers, planner, policy-makers and all those who are connected with the women issues and the Unorganized sector.

About the author

D.P. Singh

Dr. Singh born on July 14, 1943, he did his Ph.D. in Agronomy from MLU Halle Wittenberg. Germany with Specialization in Crop Water Management. Dr. Singh has 40 years experience in agricultural field, served largely in the SAUs as Professor, head of Department of Agronomy and dean, College of Agriculture. At present he is holding a position as Vice Chancellor of the largest multi-campii Agricultural University, JNKVV, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh (having 7 Agriculture Colleges, one Horticulture College, one Agril. Engineering College and two veterinary Colleges besides 25 ZARS/RARS and 38 KVKs). He has received five national and one International Awards besides two overseas research fellowships. Recently in 2006 he has been honoured with a Gold medal of Indian Society of Agronomy. He has traveled extensively in India and abroad (Europe, Australia, United State of America and Africa) for academic purpose in various capacities. Dr. Singh is a fellow of National Academy of Agricultural science, Indian Society of Agronomy, Indian Society of Physiology and Indian Society of genetics and Plant Breeding. He has guided several M.Sc. and Ph.D. Students and one of his student awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Award. He has provided leadership to multidisciplinary research team and significantly contributed in the field of Agriculture education, crop water management, stress physiology, irrigation planning, soil-crop-water atmospheric relations and integrated farming system. Dr. Singh is the Author of more than 250 research publications in National and International Society of Sustainable Agriculture and resource Management.
