Synopsis
The environmental problem has already acquired global parameters. Environmental challenges are on a global scale, have global implications, and are becoming increasingly significant to all nations. Modern international environmental law dates to approximately 1972, when countries gathered for the United Nations Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment Programme was established. Since then, there has been a rapid rise in international legal instruments concerned with the environment. This book examines some of the ways in which international environmental law is responding to global environment change and suggests new direction for the field. To accomplish this, it looks at the challenges posed by issues of global environmental change and sustainable development and at historical experience. This work will be an essential reading for all who concerned with environment and its study
