Vatsala Shukla

Vatsala Shukla, Ph.D. from Allahabad University, is a Research Fellow at the Center for Study of Society and Secularism (CSSS(, Santacruz, Mumbai. She is the recipient of Junior Research Fellowship from UGC, Delhi (1996) and the Award of Merit (1997) from Allahabad University. She has also done an Advanced Diploma in applied Linguistics from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. She is pursuing a project "Language and Politics". She started her career as a teacher at the Allahabad University and subsequently taught at various colleges in Pune. She is a member of Indian Association for Canadian Studies and presented a paper on "Women in Politics" in the 21st International Conference on Canadian Studies, Hyderabad. As an author she has published several articles on Indian politics and current global issues. Her current areas of interest include: Women's Studies, Canadian Politics and Sociolinguistic Aspect of Political Power.
