Personality Types of Substance Abusers
Synopsis
This book is based on an investigation which is an original piece of research, “entitled as predictors of addictive behaviour among alchol and tobacco users and non-usersâ€. It must be highlighted, that the book is not entirely an esateric enterprise, in essence the book emplicity highlighted the most recent, causal – concepted bases of addictive behaviour in general. It is not only limited to the explanation of a particular additive substance. The other part of this volume, offers vistas of practical and effective remedial approaches to handle or minimize the debilitative effects of addictive behaviour. The strategies if they are adoptics to alleviate addictive behaviour, will lead to prasic reducsion and minization of the crippling effect to drug addiction, so as to optimize a person’s social transaction and facilitate positive behaviours with other persons. The study was aimed at purely pragmatic, practical and conceptually indigenous perceptive based on cultural based propensities of ‘SAT’, RAJ’ and ‘TAM’ as dominant markers of personality that predispose persons to addictive behaviour in addition to psychometric measures of personality, stressful, life events during one year and life-time was evaluated in terms of their diathesis for addictive behaviour rigorous research methodology was used to formulate the three major hypothesis as well as the design of the study. Results indicated the predictive value of all the three markers the finding were also in consonance of others studies conducted in this area. The practical implication of this study was that all de-addition and amelioration intervention programmes must involve a change in all the three culturally based propensities, i.e. from ‘TAM’ to ‘RAJ’ and for ‘RAJ’ to ‘SAT’ cognitive markers may serve as catalysts of change.
