Synopsis In Hindu Law, marriage is treated as a 'Sanskara' or a sacrament.  Act of 1955 merely amends and codifies law relating to marriage among Hindus, it retains its nature as a religions sacrament.  There were Acts and custom of particular states and relating to different castes, creed and community.  According to codified Act all text, regular interpretation of Hindu Law or custom are repealed except the custom of divorce recognized under section 29 of the Act.  There are various amendments in the Act made from time to time and divorce by mutual consent was also permitted.  Cases relating to matrimonial matters are increasing day by day and there are latest pronouncements of Hon'ble High Court and Honourable Supreme Court on this Act and many interpretations were brought by these judgments.  Great necessity was felt to bring a detailed commentary with latest amendments and latest case law on the Act.  We have tried our best to incorporate all latest amendments and latest judgments of Honorable High Courts and Honourable Supreme Court in the book.  The style and arrangement of the book has been made more systematic and easy.  The synopsis of every section has been given at the top of commentary to make it easy for the reader to find out the relevant topic and suitable case law.  The authors Sukh Dev Aggarwal and his associates have been conducting large numbers matrimonial cases.  Having practical experience of difficult situations of such cases they have tried to include solutions of the problems faced by our members of legal profession.  The author Sh. J.D. Chandna is a retired Additional District & Sessions Judge Haryana.  He has tried to make the book more useful for the Bench and the Bar.
