Synopsis Economics of J.K. Mehta: A Peep into Mehtanomics is an edited volume consisting of 21 selected papers contributed to one of the technical sessions of the 85th Annual Conference of the Indian Economic Association. They are distributed over four parts, viz., I)Want, Wantless and Wantlessness, (II) On Theory and Welfare, (III) Mehta: The Economic Thinker, and (IV) Mehtanomics in the Globalisation Era. In the Introductory part, there is editorial contributions on the Life and Works of J.K. Mehta and a synoptic view about the included articles and a Note by the Editors Prof. Prahlad Kumar and Prof. Jiwitesh Kumar Singh. The volume also contains a Foreword by the IEA President (2003-04) Prof. Raj Kumar Sen. It is expected that this volume will highlight the current relevance of economic ideas of Prof. J.K. Mehta, one of the most original economic thinkers of India.
