The All India Trade Union Congress, like other political parties, played a very constructive role in the Indian Independence. AITUC since its inception in 1920 marched ahead stronger and stronger with its lion hearted intelligent and seasoned politicians like Lala Lajpat Rai, N.P. Joshi, VV. Giri, M.N. Roy, SwamiVishvananda, Babu Shyam Sunder Chakraborty, D.D. thacker, K.Pitamber, Jalil Khan, V.G. Dalvi, I.B. Sen, C.R. Das and many others. The AITUC fought shoulder to shoulder with the leaders of Indian National Congress throughout till Independence.
