Challenges and Opportunities in Electronics Manufacturing
Synopsis
India is emerging as a hotspot for Electronics Manufacturing. Recent studies by Goldman Sachs indicate India could be the world’s third largest economy by 2035, behind the United States and China. India’s overall electronics industries projected to be about US$60 billion by 2010. Two thirds of this amount, US$40 billion, is expected to be for domestic demand with 80% manufactured internally and the remaining US$20 billion for export. Half of the export revenues will come from products and assemblies and the remaining half will be equally divided between design and component exports. International Conference on Challenges and Opportunities in Electronic Manufacturing, held during Componex/electronic India 2006, has, apart from convering the traditional Electronics Manufacturing sectors including Semiconductors and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), laid special focus on emerging Electronics Manufacturing Opportunities such as Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS), Nanotechnology and Automotive Electronics. This volume is a Compendium of the papers presented at the International Conferences held in New Delhi, India in January 2006.
