Synopsis
The book ‘Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates’ in second revised and enlarged edition provides information on various aspects of the evolutionary history of vertebrates, their structural modifications and correlations with varied environments and modes of life. This book is intended to serve the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate student offering zoology. It is aimed to compile a comprehensive account of current information on comparative structure and physiological outline required by a student in a single book containing condensation of available information. It is also intended to provide comparative structure of Indian animal types. The plan followed in this text includes the first chapter on the classification of Chordates followed by eleven chapters on various organ systems. For each organ system a general account is given followed by the comparative description of important Indian types from each class including. Branchiostoma, Scolidon, Labeo, Rana, Uromastio Columba dn Oryctolagus. It is hoped that this book will prove useful to students for the knowledge of basic vertebrate structure. A bibliography has been given at the end for detailed study.
