About the author

P.A. George

Dr. P.A. Geoge (1959) is an associate professor at the Centre for Japanese and North East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies. He teaches courses in Japanese Language and Literature. He has been specializing on Miyazawa Kenji and his works since mid 1990s. In 2002, the government of Hanamaki City, Iwate prefecture, Japan, bestowed him with ‘The Miyazawa Kenji Shorei-sho’ (The Miyazawa Kenji Award for Young Scholars) in recognition to his research on Kenji and translation of some of his children’s stories into Malayalam. Dr. George also translated some novellas of Shimazaki Toson, another renowned Japanese novelist of twentieth century, into English and published few years ago. Presently, he is working on a Malayalam translation of short stories of famous Japanese authors like Akutagawa Ryunosuke, Kawabata Yasunari and others.
