Physiology of Stressed Crops (Volume II)
Synopsis
There has been much interest on the physiology of crops under stress, in recent times. The application of the research findings is yet to be implemented for improving crop yield and quantity. Before that is possible, collection and collation of data on the changes in the physiology of crop plants by stresses (abiotic and biotic), singlely and in combination, are important. While study of whole physiology is must for concept development, it was felt prudent to concentrate on different important aspects individually for better coverage and comprehension, before integrating these at a later stage. With this objective, a multi-volume treatise on the Physiology of Stressed Crops was planned. In this volume II on Nutrient Relations of the treatise, chapters on nutrient stress (both deficiency and toxicity) in general, followed by separate chapters on the affects of stresses like soil acidity, salinity, allelochemicals, soil compaction, draught, water-logging, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, air pollution, and parasitic weeds on nutrient availability, uptake, transport, utilization, crop growth and fructification have been included. This volume will cater to the needs of Crop Physiologists, Agronomists, Soil Scientists, Ecologists, Geneticists, Crops Breeders and Molecular Biologists. Both teachers and advanced students majoring in Crop Stress Physiology will find it an essential reference book.
