Tropical Horticulture ( Vol. 1)
Synopsis
Horticultural crops including fruits, vegetables, plantation crops, spices, medicinal and aromatic plants, flowers and ornamental plants apart from being a group of major food crops and economic crops throughout the world, constitute raw materials for value added products and industrial uses. A large number of horticultural crops grown in tropical countries are of major commercial importance and have global demand. Apart from domestic market, export trade of horticultural products from many countries are enormously high. Since the cost of production of raw materials in tropical countries is comparatively low, the scope for establishing farms and plantations for production and industries for utilization of these produces are increasing steadily. In view of the importance of tropical horticultural crops, it was considered relevant to provide updated information on different aspects of various groups of plants with emphasis on production technology in two volumes, of this publication. The publication will be useful to the students, researchers, horticulturists, planters, farmers and entrepreneurs alike.
