Synopsis Member of parliament Local Area development Scheme (MPLADS) is probably the most sensitive and controversial amongst the hundreds of developmental scheme being implemented by the Government of India. This also is the most misunderstood one. Besides, the scheme related information is mostly published in media. One would find hardly any supporter of this scheme, excluding off course, the MPs themselves. Thus any attempt to write a full book on this topic should be seen as a courageous endeavour. The purpose is to being-out the important aspects of the scheme that are either neglected by the social commentators, media and research scholars or are not been covered adequately. The main theme of this book is to explore the centrality of electoral politics within the democratic federalism in Indian and the ole of MPLADS within this development discourse.
