Psychology and Industrial Efficiency
Synopsis
Hugo Munsterberg was an eminent German psychologist who gave new dimension in psychology of scientific management. He devoted considerable attention on the problems of scientific management, including economy of movement, the problem of monotony, and issues of attention and fatigue. His aim was much broader to sketch the outlines of a new science which is to intermediate between the modern laboratory psychology and the problems of economics. With this book, in other words, author hoped to bring psychological science into the service of the marketplace. This work is divided into three large sections, one devoted to problems of selection, a second to issues of scientific management, and a third to the use of psychology to increase success in the marketplace. I hope, this book will not only systematize the newly emerging field of industrial psychology but will also popularize the notion that scientific psychology has the potential to make a significant contribution to the betterment of every life.
