A Socio-History of Ex-Criminal Communities OBCs

P.S. Varma (Author) S.S. Shashi (Author)
Synopsis The present book deals with the history of the ex-criminal communities and the backward classes in India. The main objective of the book is to present a board survey of the book is to present a broad survey of the depressed classes. It is a sociological fact that the criminals are not born but they are made either due to their penury or the social stigma which has been prevalent since ancient times. In fact these people had to suffer a lot in the past and are still tortured due to illiteracy or the economic constraints. The erudite scholars of this treatise have dealt in length and breadth the appealing conditions of these hapless people. Though the truth is always bitter but there should be no shadow of doubt that one has to have the courage to highlight the plight of these peoples who had been the victims of our social dogma. In British period there were certain cases particularly nomads, semi-nomads and farmers who fought against the British in face to face warfare or guerilla confrontation. The British declared them as criminal tribes as these castes did not bow to the foreign rulers. The book contains the report of the Criminal Tribes Act, the Socio-Historical Background, How Criminals are made, The Laws of the Ex-Criminal community, and the Mandal Commission report besides the Appendices. The volume will be a cynosure to all type of readers.
