P.M. Passah

Dr. P.M. Passah, Professor of economics (Rtd.) and former Chief Proctor of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, is an eminent economist having more than 70 research papers to his credit. He attended more than 70m national and regional conferences, seminars, symposiums, etc. Formerly, member of the state Planning Board, Meghalaya; Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board and Meghalaya Education Advisory Committee, presently, he is member of Meghalaya Land Acquisition Advisory Committee. He was the President of the North Eastern economic Association and presently the president of Meghalaya economic Association. He is a life member of the Indian Economic Association; Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, and several other national and regional organizations. He is now on Advocate of the bar Council of Assam, Meghalaya, etc. and the Chairman of the economic Cell, Bhartiya Janata party of Meghalaya . He has co-authored-Population, Poverty and Environment in North East India (2000), and Jaintia Hills (Home to a Meghalaya tribe)-Its Environment, land and People (2002).
