In Volume Two illustrations with discussion have been dealt with in a picturesque style. Various types of artistic description through illustrations can be observed. One can observe the different styles of art and its allied branch of the places in western Himalayas, like Harwan, Ushkur, Bejbehara, Pandrathan, Parihasapura, Avantipur, Verinag, Alchi Monastery, Tabo and Nako Monastery. About the authors

Ajay Kumar Singh

Dr. A.K. Singh obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in History of Art from the Banaras Hindu University. Since 1976 he has been engaged in carrying out researches on the art of Trans-Himalayan regions with the Bharat Kala Bhavan, the Art and Archaeology Museum of the same university. Dr. Singh has undertaken extremely adventurous and painstaking journeys to explore the historical and archaeological potentialities of the difficult terrains. He was awarded Senior Research Fellowship by the U.G.C. He has many research articles to his credit. He is presently a lecturer in History of Art, in the Faculty of Visual Arts in the Banaras Hindu University.

Sunil Khosa

Dr. Sunil Khosa completed his Masters Degree in 1976 from the Department of Art History, Banaras Hindu University. Subsequently he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the same University in 1981 for his research work ‘The Art of Painting in Kashmir’ (Medieval Period). He has been teaching Art History in the faculty of Music and Fine Arts both at Srinagar and Jammu Universities. Dr. Khosa has remained visiting faculty to various Universities which include the University of Fine Arts Khairagarh (M.P.) and the Department of Archaeology, S.S. University, Varanasi. He was also offered fellowship in Art History in the National Museum of India, New Delhi. He has a number of research papers to his credit which have been published both in India and abroad. His major works are ‘Art History of Kashmir and Laddakh’ published in 1984 and ‘Antiquities of Western Himalayas’ published in 1992.

Manjula Chaturvedi

Dr. Manjula Chaturvedi the co-author of this treatise is a research scholar in the Department of Art and Painting in the Banaras Hindu University. She has a number of research articles to her credit. She is a thorough scholar and has delivered lectures in many academic institutions.
