This book is an introductory textbook of immunogenetics, an exciting and rapidly advancing branch of biology. The book evolved from a course being regularly taught to first years Ph.D. students. The lack of exposure to immunogenetics at the post-graduate level has been striking. It is felt that a simple primer on basic immunogenetics for postgraduates in biological science and medicine would be useful and fill a gap in the existing spectrum of Indian textbooks. There have been many exciting developing in immunogenetics in the last two decades which have made major impact on human health. Students need to be conversant with these advances to order to understand the immunologic approaches. This book tries to explain the basic principles of immunogenetics in a simple accurate and up-to-date manner. It is also tried to convey some of the excitement of this field and provide the foundation required for young scientists to launch a career in this field. It?s hoped that is will help them to understand the gentic basis of disease and generate enthusiasm for the speciality.
