The present study on Central Asia has been conducted with an environmental deterministic perspective, introduced in Geography by Ratzel and his followers. The book has been divided into six chapters each one dealing with a specific sub-theme. The introductory chapter highlights the significance, source material, methodology and frame of the study. The second chapter deals with physical personality of the study area. The third chapter discusses the socio-cultural milieu of Central Asia. The fourth chapter focuses on the resource base and economic activities of the region. The fifth chapter highlights the various areas of society and economy of Central Asia on which the impact of geographical conditions can be visualized. The concluding chapter gives a summary of the main findings of the present study.
